Todvale Casino
The casino is the low block past the far end of the pool
Todvale Casino is in the block beyond the water, at the end of the same verandah that runs past every room in the building. It belongs to the hotel and is run by it, and you reach it from the hotel itself without going out onto Barrett Drive.
From the desk you walk along the verandah, past the dining room and the pool. It is about seventy paces, all of them under a roof, which counts for a lot in January. Someone is on that door for every hour the room is open.

Eleven tables in a 1979 function block
The casino floor has eleven tables and a bar along the south wall. On a Wednesday in February five tables are open, and during the Masters Games all eleven are, with the door counted.
The casino was the motel's function room from 1979 until 2014, and it has the same deep eaves as everything else here. Do not expect plush: the floor is polished concrete and the ceiling is the original timber. There is no music, and you can hear the air conditioning, which nobody has ever complained about.
The casino asks for a shirt and closed shoes. Bare feet will not do, nor will anything still wet from the pool, which needs saying because the pool is thirty metres away.
18, and checked every visit
The Northern Territory sets the casino age at 18 and the house applies it to everyone. Photo ID is checked at the door each time you come, so a guest who had dinner in the dining room an hour earlier still shows it.
The casino accepts an Australian driver licence, a passport or a proof-of-age card. A photograph of one on a telephone does not count, and the staff on that door cannot be talked round.
Anyone under 18 is kept out of the casino at every hour, even when the room is closed and being cleaned.
Agreed with a person, written down
Limits are set on the casino floor by the staff working it. Tell them your figure before you sit down and it is written up and held to for the evening, or ask them to suggest one.
Stepping away from the casino is arranged in person at the front desk. It cannot be done in the low block or by telephone. Self-exclusion is signed at the desk and takes effect the same evening, and it is lifted only when you return to that desk in person.
The casino floor gives no credit of any kind, and there is no cash machine in the low block, on the verandah or elsewhere on the property.
No games, bets, deposits or payments here
Todvale is a land-based casino, part of a hotel in Alice Springs. This site describes the room and the building around it, and it runs no games, takes no stakes, opens no accounts and moves no money.
To play you come to Barrett Drive, show photo ID at the door of the low block and sit down at a table. That is the only way in, and none of it happens on this page.
